Music is the ultimate team sport. A solo instrument can stir the soul, but the communal effort of a group can make for an even more exhilarating experience.
Why is it then that a child's musical journey typically begins in a private lesson? Does playing an instrument require a certain level of skill before one is ready for a group setting? Dance, martial arts, gymnastics, etc, start students out in groups. Why don't we?
